A Workshop on intellectual property rights (IPR)

They foster fair competition and facilitate international trade by ensuring protection and enforcement of these rights.”
The School of Sustainability successfully organized a workshop on July 14, 2023, with the CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT), Bhubaneswar, Odisha, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of XIM University. The workshop was conducted on the topic of “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR): Current Perspectives on Academics & Research.”
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Sutapa Pati’s welcome address. As the event convener, Prof. Dr. Aradhana Basu later introduced the honorable guests from CSIR-IMMT. On behalf of the School of Sustainability, she continued announcing the official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the School of Sustainability, XIM University and CSIR-IMMT.
The workshop began with the Chief Guest address by Dr. N. K. Dhal, Chief Scientist and Head, Environment and Sustainability Department, CSIR-IMMT. He set the tone for the workshop and shared insightful views on sustainability students’ opportunities in the market. He shed light on streamlining management students to the field of research and patenting.
Our keynote speaker, Dr. T Pavan Kumar, Senior Scientist, CSIR-IMMT, continued the session. Dr. Pavan introduced the students to the concept of patenting and the various types and methods involved in the process. He shared his experience and explained the process with common and surreal examples. The session ended with a thought-provoking question and left the students to explore and get intrigued by the field of research and patenting.
The workshop’s interactive session facilitated lively and engaging discussions, allowing participants to interact actively with the esteemed speakers. These sessions provided a platform for attendees to seek clarifications and delve deeper into various aspects of intellectual property rights. The workshop was concluded with a gratitude address by Ms. Anju Biju, Secretary SM.
