A Memorandum of Understanding is made between Wipro Foundation and XIM University formerly know as Xavier University, Bhubaneswar- School of Sustainability, December 2020 to December 2021
Wipro Foundation is a not-for-profit trust, which exists for corporate citizenship and CSR activities of Wipro Limited.
XIM University formerly know as Xavier University, Bhubaneswar- School of Sustainability is a quality institute delivering quality management education. It offers a wide gamut of programs in Management, Sustainability, Communications, Commerce and other Disciplines. The University aims to fulfill its mission by continuing to introduce new programs to groom visionary, competent, committed, compassionate and value-based leaders. There is a clear intent to be the first to respond to the needs of the society and enable the building of sustainable communities that inspire the future of the State and the Country serving as an active agent of change.
Under the aegis of XIM University formerly know as Xavier University, Bhubaneswar the School of Sustainability was established in the year 2015,to respond to the global call and initiated to promote sustainability through the means of education; and give meaning to the larger Jesuits call of social and environmental justice. This is the first school of its own kind in Asia, with a global ranking. The school is designed to spread awareness and need of sustainability education in all forms, to fulfill which the SDG’s play a critical role . The SDGs reveal that sustainable development in its diverse nature and form, provides useful and effective strategic and operational guidelines for driving and achieving the UN resolution, “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” A global movement and action is required to make this mission a reality.
Objectives
The principal objective of this MoU is to foster collaboration between WIPRO Foundation and XIM University formerly know as Xavier University, Bhubaneswar- School of Sustainability in advancing sustainability in higher education. The B.Sc. (Hons.) in Sustainable Development and Environmental Science offered by Xavier University, Bhubaneswar- School of Sustainability is one of the very few sustainability oriented graduate programmes offered by any Indian university. Through this collaboration the two parties wish to actively engage, and support interested youth wanting to pursue sustainability education at undergraduate level. The partnership would provide recognition to the students through the stewardship programme for their sustainability leadership role while preparing them to further the cause of sustainability. The objective is also to jointly strengthen the programme by supplementing academic learning via access to national and international platforms in terms of training resources and to involve them in impactful research and projects. XIM University formerly know as Xavier University, Bhubaneswar- School of Sustainability has the clear understanding that the title “WIPRO SUSTAINABLE STEWARDSHIP PROGRAMME”, has been agreed to be awarded only for supporting; the existing collaboration between both the parties. Which is purely of academic nature and that it shall be extended to the Undergraduate programme only, offered by the XIM University formerly know as Xavier University, Bhubaneswar-School of Sustainability.
