Facilitated e-waste drive: School of Sustainability in association with NSS Cell (Unit 6) at XIM University, successfully conducted an E-Waste Collection Drive from January 2, 2026, to January 7, 2026. This initiative was designed to promote the responsible disposal of electronic waste while raising awareness of the environmental and health risks associated with improper e-waste management.
Following the collection process, the e-waste was systematically segregated by a dedicated group of B.Sc SD & EVS students, Batch 2024-2027 from the School of Sustainability. The items gathered comprised earphones, earbuds, chargers, adapters, wires, cables, batteries, damaged metal items, watches, clocks, mobile phones, mosquito repellents, and various other electronic components. Over 6 days, a total of 5.434 kilograms of e-waste was collected.
Following appropriate segregation procedures, the electronic waste was transferred to a certified recycler located in Tamil Nadu for environmentally responsible recycling and disposal. The recycler issued an official certificate of responsible disposal to the NSS Cell and the School of Sustainability at XIM University. This certificate was formally presented to Fr. S. Antony Raj SJ Registrar, XIM University during the inaugural session of the 11th Annual Sustainability Summit in January 2026, underscoring the XIM University’s dedication to sustainable practices.
