We are delighted to share the success of the 8th Annual Sustainability Meet Day-2 held in Konark, Odisha. The event, which took place on February 2nd, 2023, brought together esteemed guests, including the Hon’ble Home Minister Mr. Tushar Kanti Behera
to focus on pressing environmental issues and promote sustainability.
The day began with a series of insightful sessions, including the unveiling of a fact sheet on Coastal Wetlands by the Youth 4 India Campaign co-founded by Ranjan Panda. The presence of the Hon’ble Home Minister added great significance to the event, highlighting the government’s commitment to environmental conservation.
A highlight of the day was the Beach and River mouth cleanup at Kushabhadra, organized by the entire School of Sustainability. Volunteers gathered to remove litter and debris, working towards restoring the pristine beauty of the area and preserving the delicate ecosystem.
The event also featured an enriching Ornithology Workshop conducted by Dr. Vikrant Vijay Patil. Participants gained valuable knowledge about various bird species, their habitats, and the importance of avian conservation for maintaining ecological balance. The workshop deepened the understanding and appreciation for the rich avian biodiversity of the region.
To engage participants further, a Bird Race was held, challenging them to spot and identify as many bird species as possible within a designated time frame. Utilizing the eBird app, participants logged their sightings, fostering the use of technology for wildlife monitoring and enhancing bird identification skills.
The event successfully achieved its objectives, raising awareness about environmental issues, promoting sustainability, and fostering collaboration among participants from academia, industry, and government sectors. It served as a platform for valuable discussions on the future of sustainability education and inspired individuals to take action towards a greener and more sustainable future.
