The School of Sustainability, XIM University, Odisha, hosted a successful poster presentation and workshop on Solar Powered Weather Monitoring Station Installation on September 24, 2022. The event was coordinated by Prof. Mary Sabina Peters, and it commenced with a welcome note by Prof. Dr. Sutapa Pati, Dean of the School of Sustainability, followed by addresses from Fr. S Antony Raj S.J, Registrar, XIM University, Odisha, and Prof. Dr. Mary Sabina Peters, also from the School of Sustainability. The event marked the inauguration of the Solar Powered Weather Monitoring Station installed at the new campus of XIM University.
The station is capable of collecting micro-scale data of air and water variables, and the data gathered can be monitored remotely through the “Davis Weather-Link” app. Additionally, the workshop saw the demonstration of a Hydrogen Fuel Cell car and a discussion on the future of the transportation industry.
XIM University was honored to host several distinguished speakers and jury members at the event, including Prof. Dr. Paramita Sen and Prof. Dr. Neal Philip from Bronx Community College, City University New York City, Salil Kader from the US Consulate General Hyderabad, Diplomacy and Public Affairs, Dr. Thomas Isekenegbe, President of Bronx Community College, City University New York City, Dr. Shakila Merchant from Bronx Community College, City University New York City, and Dr. Tarendra Lakhankar from Bronx Community College, City University New York City.
The workshop concluded with the declaration of the results of the digital poster presentation competition, which was conducted on September 9, 2022, in collaboration with the Crest Institute. Anshuman Samar and Meghna Sahoo from Cambridge School, Cuttack, secured the first position with a cash prize of Rs. 5000, followed by Aayushi Nanda and Gargi Priyadarshani from the School of Public Affairs and Governance, who were awarded the second position with a cash prize of Rs. 2000. Abhishek Behera and Sutapa Tanushree Behera won the third position.
Overall, the event was a huge success and highlighted XIM University’s commitment to promoting sustainable practices and combating climate change.
