The girl child faces unique challenges to reach unto her full development and to exercise her capabilities. Paradoxically, she is the one who holds the key to positive development outcomes that reverberate across future generations. The initiatives to empower girl child are increasingly recognized as critical to breaking the intergenerational transmission of poverty. But, for such initiatives to have maximum impact, much effort is needed to make the girl child more visible in the development agenda.
