Fulbright Specialist Workshop : Prof. Mary Haskins
Students participated in the Fulbright Specialist Program conducted by Prof. Mary Haskins at XIM University from October 21 to November 6, 2024. The program, titled “Assessing Environmental Health while Developing Analytical Skills,” focused on environmental assessment methods, analytical techniques, and interdisciplinary approaches to sustainability studies. The sessions provided practical exposure to environmental health evaluation, data interpretation, and research methodologies while enhancing critical thinking and analytical skills relevant to environmental and sustainability research.

GBBC
Students participated in the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC), contributing to citizen science and biodiversity observation initiatives through birdwatching and species documentation activities. The event involved observing and identifying bird species, recording sightings, and understanding the importance of avian biodiversity monitoring. Participation in GBBC provided practical exposure to bird identification techniques, ecological observation, and community-driven conservation efforts while promoting awareness about the significance of protecting natural ecosystems and maintaining biodiversity.

Leadership Talk
Dr Trupti Das, Chairperson of the HRD at IMMT and Senior Principal Scientist at CSIR-IMMT led a session on 22nd July 2025 where she introduced the various things CSIR-IMMT engages in. She also informed students on how international collaboration works at CSIR-IMMT. The main focus of her talk however was talking about why Sustainability is important and how different regions in India experience Climate Change differently and why research, especially scientific research is important to tackle these different problems. She spoke to the students with genuineness, capturing their interest and motivating them to make the best use of the resources they have.

Fulbright Workshop : Prof. Vasubandhu Mishra
A session by Prof. Vasubandhu Mishra on 27th February 2026, explored the application of climate science in water management practices in Florida. Guest was introduced by Aaradhana Chand and felicitated by Prof. Elizabeth Abba, the talk connected climate variability with weather forecasting and water governance. Prof. Mishra discussed Florida’s terrain, aquifer systems, and the importance of scientific collaborations in managing water resources. He explained these concepts using case studies of the Tampa Bay water supply system and the Peace Manatee River water supply. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Elizabeth Abba.

Alumni Interaction : Mr Romario Topno
Mr. Romario Topno, a 2020–2023 undergraduate alumnus, participated in an interactive session with the XIM University School of Sustainability Alumni Committee on June 24, 2025. Students listened to Romario's tale about his career and personal life. Romario is currently working as an administrative associate at Small Wish International and holds an M.Sc. in Sustainable Development from Christ University. He spoke candidly about key turning points in his life, including the setback of not clearing NEET, which redirected him toward Sustainable Development at XIM University . Additionally, he discussed how the pandemic compelled him to complete his first year of school virtually, juggling distant friendships and online coursework, and how meeting his peers in person and taking part in campus events changed his life.

Career Insights Session
Mr. Ajay Zener, a career guidance counselor from GradSquare, led an enlightening discussion hosted by the Career Progression Committee. The purpose of the event was to help second and third-year students clarify their professional objectives. After giving helpful tips on how to prepare for tests and plan for a career, Mr. Zener led a lively Q&A session that lasted longer than ten minutes. Although Mr. Ajay Zener's primary concentration was MBA, he also made sure to share his insightful knowledge with students who were pursuing an M.Sc. after earning a bachelor's degree. He discussed opportunities overseas, the abilities required to accomplish these objectives, and how to position yourself as the strongest applicant for scholarships.. He elaborated on studying abroad by suggesting that one could work while studying abroad to earn money and lighten the load financially.
