SUSTAINABILITY " LABORATORY FOR INNOVATION FACILITATING EXCELLENCE "
Laboratories enshrined in the institutional and social settings are critical to the process of building a culture of scientific temper and co-creation of knowledge generation, dissemination and action aimed at understanding the Earth system that supports life. Among various sciences, the field of sustainability helps us understand the Earth system deeper and better and it provides integrative thinking and holistic perspective. What is central to the science of sustainability is its inclusive approach to connect people, planet, profit, peace and prosperity.
Since its inception in 2013, XIM University has been engaged in promoting research, education, and outreach program leveraging the advantages of various disciplines such as engineering, science, technology, ecology, social & behavioural sciences and management. School of Sustainability is mandated with the mission of promoting laboratory based research and education at XIM University.
The first ever sustainability laboratory, bearing the acronym (LIFE- Lab for Innovation Facilitating Excellence) has been set up at XIM University under the aegis of School of Sustainability focusing on four focus areas, viz.
- Environmental Analysis Laboratory
- Air Laboratory
- Biodiversity and Ecosystem Laboratory
- Sustainable Design Laboratory
School of Sustainability of XIM University inaugurated its first “Sustainability Laboratory for Innovation Facilitating Excellence” or “LIFE” on 21st September 2018.
Dr. S Peppin (EX-Dean, School of Sustainability) started the event by explaining the significance of LIFE. The lab was then declared open by cutting the ribbon by Dr. Fr. Paul Fernandes, S.J. (EX-Vice Chancellor, Xavier University, Bhubaneswar) and eminent industry veteran, Mr P.S. Narayan (Vice President and Head, Sustainability and Social Initiatives, Wipro Limited).
